Target marketing involves the convergence of the market into different segments and then focusing on the different marketing efforts of one or more of the few elements.
This can be a key to success for a small business. The uniqueness of target markets is that they make the promotion, pricing and the distribution of the products and /or services in a systematic and more cost effective way. It provides the tool to focus on all the marketing strategies.
The most common market segmentation can be done by the following ways:
Geometric segmentation - this type of segmentation is based on the locations of the customers such as the home address.
Demographic segmentation- this type of segmentation is based on the profile of the customers such as the age or the gender, or the income.
Psychographic segmentation- this type of segmentation is based on the preferences of the living styles of the customers such as the green lovers or the pet lovers.
The most flourishing business understands the fact that only limited number of customers will buy their product or service. The task to identify the customers becomes easier to implement the marketing efforts towards them.
Another important factor is to identify the purpose for which the people buy the products or services which are:
- To satisfy their wants
- To solve the wants
- To make themselves feel good.
To build a stronger business it is better to focus on the target customer group.
It is good to become the specialist in each of the business than serving all things to all.

The marketing managers implement the method to generate the optimal response from the market that has been targeted by proper utilization of the four variables in the finest way. The 4 P’s are Product, Pricing, Place and Promotion.
The basic aim while developing the marketing tactics for the product should be that its features, its benefits and the utility should be focused. A product with good utility will sell itself. The characteristics of the product should be able to fulfill the wants of the customers.
Pricing a product though may sound to be simple but in reality it is long and complex process. The pricing should be such that it forms a conscious decision and crucial in the marketing strategy. Price discounts and special offers are the best way to attract the customers.
The place plays an important part in the marketing mix model. The products available at the right place, time and quantities are very important in the marketing strategy.
The purpose of marketing or promotion is to persuade the customers that the products or services that are available online or offline are the best they can opt for. It is create a curiosity in the minds of the existing clients and the retailers about the products that are yet to arrive in the market.
Marketing mix model is to develop a complete package that not only targets the customer’s wants but also helps in the proper functioning of the business.

The main aim is to create customer ensuring in making a profit while employing a marketing sales person. The number of marketing institutions is massive. The recent studies have showed that the leading executives are from marketing fields than any other areas in different specializations.
People tend to find marketing interesting, with a fact that it offers exciting life style and gives chance to travel, but it also requires hard work and honesty.
